“Review: Samsung Knack Phone ”

The good: The Samsung Knack SCH-U310 has a simple, easy-to-use design and outstanding call quality.

The new Samsung SCH-u310 Knack is a simply flip phone in a slim form factor with an ergonomic design.

Behind an extremely well-built and intuitive design are excellent call quality and a solid, functional feature set that includes voice dialing.

The score is generated when there are reviews from two or more sources, and is based on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the highest possible rating.

We tested the dualband Samsung Knack SCH-U310 in San Francisco using Verizon Wireless service.

While this is an ideal phone for anyone looking for a basic phone for communication, large keys and simple menus also position it as a great option for seniors or cell phone newbies.

The ZDNet score represents a weighted average of product reviews from websites and publications around the world.

Indeed, we had no complaints, and callers had only positive things to say.

The phone also features a dedicated keys for a quick access to voice mail, speakerphone, voice commands and In Case of Emergency, calculator, calendar, alarm clock, world clock, stop watch and notepad.

The bad: The Samsung Knack SCH-U310’s external display is small and its OK button is cramped.

In a world where gadgets strive to impress, it’s comforting to see a phone that has absolutely no pretensions-a phone that doesn’t fall over itself to have the flashiest features, or sport a runway-worthy design.

The silver face is nicely offset by the dark gray skin while the sturdy construction gives the flip phone a comfortable, solid feel.

Also called the SCH-U310, the Knack is one of the best basic phones we’ve seen.

The Knack’s one-inch external display is a bit smaller than we’d like, but it shows all the information you need, including the time, battery life, signal strength, and numeric caller ID.

Also, there’s no Web browser and you can’t organize callers into groups.

It was only when we were talking in a store with a loud PA system that callers had trouble with the connection.

I chose the BlackBerry Curve over the Samsung.
