The bad: The Treo 800w can be sluggish at times and call quality could be better.
The bad: The Palm Treo 700wx lacks integrated Wi-Fi and retains the low-resolution 240×240-pixel display.
Some of the reasons for my anticipation included that the Palm Treo candybar with front keyboard has always been one of my favorite form factors; Palm seems to be the single most adept OEM at utilizing the WM OS without speed sacrifices; the 800w was supposed to be the first Treo with WiFi; it would have a better camera; it would include A2DP Bluetooth ; it would have an updated form factor without sacrificing a tried and true design; and the 800w would finally have the 320 x 320 high resolution touchscreen.
It could be argued that the word “Treo” was on its way to becoming the Kleenex of smartphones.
We’re not sure if you’ve heard, but Sprint is getting its own version of the Palm Treo 700w.

The bottom line: With the addition of Wi-Fi and GPS, the Palm Treo 800w finally catches up to some of its competition and even offers a better design.
Today, Palm and Sprint unveiled the Palm Treo 800w, a Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone targeted at business users.
Hoping to continue the success Palm found with the Centro, the Treo 800w is one of the most full-featured smartphones on the market.

During the spring of 2007, when I was still a 700wx user and a Sprint customer, I was more excited by the rumors of a possible “Palm 800″ than I was about any other upcoming Windows Mobile device.
But the PDA-phone and smartphone space blossomed with new brands and form factors while Palm seemed to stamp out mildly improved versions of their original wonder phone.
Unfortunately, while many other manufacturers are taking strides to improve the contacts and calling experience, Sprint and Palm have done very little with the Palm Treo 800w.

The phone’s narrowness means the keypad is slightly more cramped, and we wish there was a bit more travel to the keys, but overall it is pretty good.
The bottom line: The Palm Treo 700wx brings some needed improvements to the Windows Mobile smart phone, such as more memory, but it’s still far from perfect.
Updating the classic Palm Treo formula with the newest hardware and Windows Mobile operating system should be a no-brainer, and in most ways the Palm Treo 800w really works nicely.
Finally the news came that the Treo 800w was coming soon, but by then I was no longer a Sprint customer , and I had long moved on from the Treo to other PDA phones and finally to a Vertu Constellation.
If all of these features actually made it into a Windows Mobile Treo, then I would have been the first to deem that particular Treo as a WM device too delicious to miss.
Released for Sprint, the Palm Treo 800w can Treo 800w can access the Internet at broadband speeds peak download rates of 3.1 Mbps and upload rates of 1.8 Mbps.
