HTC Touch HD Phone

With the Touch Diamond, HTC packs a lot of features into a very small package, and wraps it all up in a pretty TouchFLO 3D interface.

To be fair, HTC was developing the Touch long before Apple’s iPhone hit the market.

I had played with the HTC Touch when it first hit the streets back in June, and at the time was disappointed and left wondering what the device could have been had it been allowed a bit more time to bake in the oven.

When the box arrived, I opened it up with all the excitement and haste of a child at Christmas and inadvertently tossed the HTC P3450 / HTC Touch to one side thinking that it was the battery.

The phone is a fully touchscreen-enabled device that’s powered by Windows Mobile 6 Professional edition.

Successor of the Touch, HTC Touch Diamond is also Windows Mobile Professional smartphone in candybar design.

The thing about the HTC Touch was that it featured the proprietary TouchFLO interface, which was an attempt at making the plain Windows Mobile interface into something a little more sexy and functional.

The camera has a 2MP resolution, and boasts HTC’s new camera UI , with more options than ever before.

So I’ll do my best to look at the Sprint-branded Touch both as a next-gen Windows Mobile smartphone built with a finger-friendly touchscreen and refined UI, and as an “iPhone alternative” in the newly burgeoning world of mainstream-friendly, multimedia-centric handsets.

It also includes a microSD card slot, a 2 megapixel camera, a 2.8″ display featuring 65k colors and 240×320 pixels.

This polished silver is picked up around the phone on the outside of the navigation controls and the camera, which help to give it a classy finish.

But iPhone came to market first and quickly became the gold standard for a new breed of mobile devices marked by giant touchscreens and smartphone functionality combined with mainstream usability.

The Sprint Touch by HTC features the TouchFLO user interface, which places icons on a 3D cube, allowing users to quickly touch applications to launch them.
